Hi Reader,

It’s been about six weeks since the first Creative Sanctuary, and I still notice small traces of that day appearing in quiet ways. A lingering sense of calm. A stronger pull towards creating. A gentle remembering that when we make space to create, something within us settles.

That first gathering was held around my dining table — just three of us sharing an unhurried creative day, which somehow still felt like it ended too soon. We began with felting — soft wool between our fingers, rolling colour into beads as conversation drifted easily between creativity and life. Later there was painting and sketching too. Quiet moments. Laughter. Lunch. Lindt.

What stayed with me most wasn’t what we made, but what seemed to shift in the room.

When we create alongside other people — without pressure, without needing to be good — the nervous system softens. The pace slows. Our breathing deepens. The constant background noise of what I should be doing eases for a while.

It wasn’t dramatic.
It was steady.
And it felt deeply nourishing.

I’ll be holding the next Creative Sanctuary on Friday 24 April (10am–2pm), this time in a beautiful local hills space called Harmony Hall, attached to a café. It will be another gentle, spacious day of shared creativity where you can bring your own project or simply explore the materials provided, with time to pause, connect, and create at your own rhythm. If you feel drawn to come along, you can reserve a place here. I would love to have you join us!

Making space alongside you,

P.S.
Since that first Creative Sanctuary, I’ve been thinking about how hard it can be to make space for creativity in full and busy lives. I’ve put together a small guide 5 Ways to Make Space for Creativity (Even When Life Is Full).

If you’d like an easy place to start [again], you can download it here.
